MY AGONY AS A TRUE NIGERIAN

One, undivided, and a strong Nigeria is what I believe in. As a true Nigerian that was born and raised in the North, schooled in the East and started my career in the West, I have seen it all, and can speak as an authority to an extent on the mind psychology of a typical Nigeria youth from each region. However, they said "strength of a nation cometh from multitude, the more populous and united, the stronger". Hence our mutual existence is paramount. Regardless, I do not see reasons for name calling the entire Northerners terrorist, or why any Southerner with a questionable views about the continual existence of one Nigeria be termed ignoramus or myopic. Perhaps, I'm the ignorant one, oblivious of the reasons why they should be termed so. Nevertheless, I'm ashamed of the mentality of most Africans, especially we Nigerians that has the might and intellectuals to rewrite the destinies of the entire African people. We are too sentimental and harsh on ethnic issues especially religion, yet we have the most dirty minds and ruthless people amongst us.

I perceive anger and hatred in many of the online forum and comments. I'm culpable as well especially on political issue; which is our real setbacks. Regardless, we should learn to debate with diplomacy, facts and reasons so as not to give the devil the chance to plant more seeds of hatred whose only fruit is division. It is obvious that there is urgent need for us, especially our enlightened youths, to sincerely go back and preach the message of love and sincerity to our children, families, friends and our people. Until true love and sincerity achieve her place in our nation, we'll continue to promote the unhealthy while mutual coexistence and progress will continue to elude us. Meanwhile, while we continue to fight and compete on flimsy ethnic and religious issues, drinking away to stupor our values, the world is moving ahead; competing in information, space, nuclear, research and medical technologies and military might. The reasons most of the western world continues to laugh at us, reinforcing most believes that we are dumb people and a failed continent. May God help us all.

Ever since the news of the abduction of the Nigeria school girls by the brutal religious extremist group filtered through the media, just like every patriotic Nigerian youth, I was startled and extremely sad. However, the pace at which the whole world unanimously condemned the act brought a deep relieve and consolation to many troubled minds.
In as much as I belong to the wagon of thoughts that are skeptical, and believes that there's more that meets the eye and a charade to the whole missing girls saga; #BringBackOurGirls ,I could still not completely deny the fact that their could be strong possibility that it did happen. Regardless, many of us have completely ruled out and concluded that it is a hoax and never happened. We should learn to be more subtle with our position over the matter, because it is sensitive based on the fact that human lives are in contest and also, not even our President nor USA intelligence at the moment has a 100% picture of the situation.

When Osama and his ruthless Al-qaeda cohorts struck USA, unlike USA, it took then over a decade to pin him down. Because of how long the whole thing took, many less sensible conspiracy theories flooded the media and confused some minds that chose to be confused.Till today, few Americans are skeptical about the killing of Osama believing that it is a hoax. Regardless, greater majority believed he was killed, despite the whole secrecy behind the outcome of the operation. Not even the picture of Osama dead body was released. My point is, at times some things doesn't present a clear line, hence arousing curiosity and questions, but concluding and ruling out that it never happened just based on reasoning is not sound and not empathetic at all.If we can be presented with all the facts we're seeking for, them the kidnap wouldn't be a big issue and every thing would have been more open. However, the number of the girls said to be kidnapped is still contestible, their age, the true motive and their locations as well are all arguable. We don't know the truth nor have the facts because of our lackadaisical culture and poor record keeping system, that is why the likes of me are skeptical to an extent. Now that the entire world wants to help, especially, the U.S special force that will be extending her branch to assist in this fight against Boko Haram sect, let's wait, watch and fervently pray that the outcome will not cause more chaos but will reveal the truth, and bring victory and a lasting peace upon our father's land.May God help us all. ~Chijokx
