ABUNDANCE OF TIME
My weekend is over, but there wasn't time for fun!" This is a very
common phrase most of us use daily but in reality most of our schedules are
actually tight. But for real, are we actually time constrained? Or do we
blow them out of proportion? I think time is actually in abundance but
very volatile and irrevocable unless planned and managed.
Few years ago during my early career in banking, the chase for major business accounts was like a do-or-die
marathon, there was no time for anything else except for the job,
schedules and deliverable were crazy.I thought that was the height of
crazy schedules until lately. I'm now married, moved to the States, doing two jobs six days
per week (an average of 55hrs per week) and also completing my prerequisites which is a two days per week class (an
average of 12hours per week). This sounds crazy as if it is too much
commitments, but it is not when compared to the abundance of 168hours we
have available in a week. To unveil the mask on the excess time we have
and be in control requires discipline, task prioritization and time
management which most of us are familiar with.
Let's make the following assumptions to unveil the time we have in excess:
A. We work: 9hrs daily for 6days every week= 54hours every week.
B. We like sleep and sleeps: 8hrs per day for a week=56hours every week.
C. We plan at most: 2hours per day for a week= 14hours every week

D.One week has a total of : 168hrs
E. Let's substrate our work, sleep and planning hours from the total hours we
have in a week: we'll still have free 44hours in a week, which
translates to approximately free 6hrs:30mins every day. Wow!Free see hours.
*Although there are very few exceptions and one practical issue that could arise, the fact that some people spend too much time planning, and the possibility that some of our events of interest might clash with our engaged hours or at odd hours. Regardless, we can still create or do something else.*
Who says there's no time?! Thank God is a fresh week! plan ahead and catch some fun during your own 'weekend'. Just thinking out loud in writing.
