DEMOGRAPHY, RELIGION AND RAGE
What would have been my religious orientation assuming I was born in
the part of the world where my current religious belief is a neglegible
minority? This was a question I reflected upon years ago during my
career in banking, but was later forgotten for good. Actually, the
question popped up in my mind after we got an account of a popular
telecom firm. Usually at the point of account opening all the people I
have seen either check-mark Muslem or Christian as their religion but
with this guys there was a trend change. Not even one director belong to
any of our popular religion.
This question best forgotten years back got woken by two young dudes I met at the grocery store last week Sunday. They walked up to me and we both introduced. At first I assumed they were freelance insurance guys, but after they asked me about my religious orientation my assumption changed. At that point, without any offense, I concluded they were Jehovah's witness. I was impressed seeing such young dudes preaching the gospel in a society were public preaching is frowned at and seen by many youths as old school concept. Regardless, I was wrong in my two assumptions. But guess who they were? Maybe you've heard about them,I have never but rather perplexed. They were from a certain Christian movement that is out to prove to the entire Christianity and the world that in addition to GOD THE FATHER,there's also the existence of GOD THE MOTHER which they said have been neglected for too long to bear. Hence there's urgent need to address GOD not just as a man figure but also as a woman figure. Does this really matter? Has GOD been relegated to a mere human figure? Anyways, fortunately for me we met on my day off,but unfortunately for them I had their time and gave them religious attention.
After listening to their well analyzed scriptural injunctions to drive down their view,I didn't contest but to ask them few straight but piercing questions which they might have never been asked or thought about ever since they were swindled into the idea. Perhaps those questions or something else prompted them to want to know more about my background. I am sure at the end they had a more diluted version of their unnecessary religious view about God's gender. Thereafter, the conversation evoked another two lines of thought. First, looking at the origin of religion and how they have evolved over centuries ago as a belief system that adds meaning to our lives, but presently,it seems they are drifting mankind towards rage, even within the same religious cycle or vice versa. Many battle and divisions are springing up daily not based on political differences but based on religious differences. Could our world have been more peaceful without differences in religious belief system?
Secondly, listening to some of the various movements around the world, I am wondering if we are really getting smarter or losing sanity due to civilization in our modern world. Especially, views like those advocating for a feminine God. How does it improve the growing cynical distrust for religion? Or presumably, are we really close to the end of humanity? Is it better to be in the cave or know more? Haven known more, did it make us better, happier and peaceful or will it continue to leave mankind in disarray? Please Lord refine our thought process for your greater glory! Nothing personal, just thinking out loud in writing.
