NIGERIA'S DECADES OF ECONOMIC HOSTAGE
The culture of lawlessness, corruption and impunity has assumed a
vast scale operation in our dear country Nigeria and her entire government sector. The latest is
the incessant brutal terrorist attacks and kidnaps by the evil Bokoharam sect that is not based on differences in
economic policies, but based on few selfish political and religious
interests. We have been deceived for too long especially from the days
of Military dictators and still in this present government
both at state and federal level, while other developing economies around
the globe are defying basic economic principles transforming and
growing there real sectors. While our leaders focused more on manipulating the
ideologies of Nigerians especially her youths by
embellishing ethnic, regional and religious sentiments into their perceptual
frame work which have prevented the youths from uniting to form a common front
that will confront their economic wrecking activities of several
decades. Nigeria's successive government export our collective natural heritage, enrich themselves by acquiring expanse of
oil wells while the average Nigerian
family is uncertain about the future of a child born today nor their child that just graduated
nor are they certain about their tomorrow's meal. Over 60% of Nigerian population are
mainly the youths within the ages of 15-35years lives in a nation
without clear successive economic map nor direction. These political tyrants
live in absolute opulence with impunity in baroque style
mansions, hilltops while their families and cohorts enjoy the best things
in life; sound healthcare, quality education system, living in the best
countries in the world.
Today, an average helpless Nigerian youths have been reduced by poverty and unemployment into an objects of international ridicule and violence, armed robbery, internet scam (commonly called yahoo-yahoo), Kidnapping, sex-slaves, exodus of intellectuals and so on.The politicians have sponsored and promoted brutal religious insurrection in the North were dozens of lives is being wasted daily, simply because they are no longer relevant in the nation's revenue embezzlement scheme as usual. All of them, including the rambling henchmen of the opposition political party are branches from the same old corrupt trunk rooted in greed that have impoverish and economically held us hostage for decades. Although inclusive of these current government promotes these same old scheme, they claimed they've done so well; that our economy had a significant growth in GDP with a projected 7.4% growth in 2014, when in reality there was no corresponding growth in our real sector of the economy nor employment rate. They convinced many Nigerians to believe that employment measurement index in economic principles differs in reality arguing that the economy witnessed growth including growth in commercial bike transport (commonly referred to as Okada riding),taxi driving, tricyclist driving, petty trading and so on which cannot be factored in theoretical employment measurement which is ridiculous. Some of their advocates claimed they are doing great job and shouldn't deserve criticisms from any group, they boasted they've executed numerous "capital projects"; dualisation of federal roads, revitalization of moribund locomotive rail line system, renovation of federal airports all which are good fits and deserves no special accolade for a Nation like ours in this 21st century if truly they are being executed. The revitalized locomotive rail way line should be relegated to transporting their family members, goods, cattle and agricultural produce and not our family members in this age and time were other nations are competing to build the fastest and farthest light rail line.
Nigerian politicians are asking for support from Nigerians come 2015; whom are mostly youths ignoring the fact that over 48% of them are unemployed a sore distress they all created. Same old vested interest still parade themselves as our national lords and economic gods over millions of smart and resourceful Nigerian youths. This is a call for reflection over decades of economic hostage, regardless of your social status as a patriotic Nigerian, especially if you're a youth home or abroad, poor or rich, our economic direction as a nation should matter to you because poverty somewhere is a threat to affluence elsewhere. Our time to truly pray, reflect and speak up in one accord against our set backs is now!
The low hanging fruit of POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC POWER at our disposal as Nigerian youths is fully ripe. We must rise up and face our fears that has held us economically hostage for decades; the old vested interests and corrupt politicians are not super-human nor are they born to rule till eternity. We must take charge with wisdom without violence nor bloodshed and turn our destinies and that of generations to come. Let it be written on the face of history that the world's largest economy; Nigeria was built and made formidable in our time or we can seat and watch have it written that the world's most corrupt and worst economy was deeply rooted in our time. In the words of Nelson Mandela,"courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over fear." Nigeria Must Survive and Progress!
